The tragic demise of American fashion designer and entrepreneur, Virgil Abloh, has shocked and saddened fans all around the globe. As one of the biggest pioneers in the fashion industry, Abloh caused an impact on all spheres. Tributes came in from all directions, with Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe also remembering the great.

He took to Twitter, talking about the impact Abloh had on the world.

Mbappe said, “RIP VIRGIL ABLOH. No one will forget the impact you had. God bless you, my friend.”

Virgil Abloh and his shimmering legacy

Abloh was the artistic designer of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, since 2018. However, one of his biggest contributions to the world of fashion was the founding of his own brand in 2012, Off-White. He was a trained architect and famously worked with American rapper Kanye West.

Virgil Abloh was an icon for the African-American community as he was the first African-American to be the artistic director at a French luxury fashion house. Following this astonishing feat, he was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018 by Times magazine.

Abloh passed away on November 28th, 2021, at the mere age of 41. He was secretly struggling with cardiac angiosarcoma, a type of cancer, for the last two years. Even though he battled against it with all his might, sadly, it was fatal in the end. However, his legacy will live on forever with the likes of Mbappe and the millions of others he has inspired and impacted with his work.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form in the league this season for PSG. The French world cup-winner has scored seven goals in fourteen games and has bagged seven assists to his name. He has helped the Parisian club reach the top of the table in Ligue 1 with a lead of 12 points over second place.

Not just for the club, but Mbappe has been amazing for his country as well, scoring five goals in six matches, along with two more assists. However, will his heroics be enough for PSG, who are in search of their first UEFA Champions League trophy?
