The word around the corner is that Karim Benzema is the best player in the world and he just continues to prove why. The French forward has been in the form of his life for about three years now, but this season he has taken his game to another level.

His partnership with Vinicius Jr. is blossoming every day, and the Los Blancos have been the beneficiaries. Real Madrid faced Chelsea in the Quarterfinals of the Champions League yesterday, and Benzema took the game by the neck and made it his own.

He scored a hat trick, which helped Madrid take a 3-1 lead going into the second leg at the Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti is extremely happy with Benzema

Benzema’s first goal was a wonderful header from the edge of the box after a fantastic 1-2 with Vinicius. He scored his second merely three minutes later from a wonderful Luka Modric cross. His hat trick was slightly anti-climatic, as Edouard Mendy’s error practically gave him an open goal to shoot into.

However, Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, won’t mind where the goals are coming from, as long as they are there. He talked about Benzema in an interview after the match and compared him to wine. Moreover, he complimented his leadership and personality.

He’s better every day, like wine. Every day he shows more leadership, he feels more important for this team and this squad. That’s what makes the difference in him. He has a lot more personality,” Ancelotti said.

Karim Benzema talks about his performance

The man of the match was extremely happy after the game too. Benzema spoke about the match in an interview and complimented the entire team for playing well for the entirety of the 90 minutes. He compared this “magical night” to the one against PSG, where he scored another hat trick to help Madrid knock the French club out.

They’re magical nights, like at the Bernabeu against Paris [Saint-Germain]. Today we went onto the pitch to win and to show what Real Madrid is. We played well from the first minute until the last,” Benzema said.
