The editor-in-chief of France football, Pascal Ferre, is the key man to decide the esteemed awards. While winning the award seems like a distant dream for Ronaldo now, Ferre spoke about his motivation in winning the award.

“Ronaldo has only one ambition, and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Or than Messi. And I know that because he has told me. I think if you looked at the statistics of Messi and Ronaldo, you would see they score a lot of goals in September and October, when the voting is happening. This is not a coincidence,” said Ferre.

With Sergio Ramos playing with PSG now, Ronaldo’s former teammate thinks Messi can win it once again.

It is so surprising to see Ramos supporting Messi, considering the rivalry they had during the El Clasico derby. Hence, he wished him good luck to his new teammate who got a hat-trick of assists against Saint-Étienne. Most importantly, it was the first time that the duo started together.

“Yes, of course [I hope he wins]. I’m going to defend the guys in my team. I wish him all the luck in the world. He’s in good shape, and I think he’s the kind of player who really makes a difference. He’s a unique player and it’s a privilege to have him in the team,” said Ramos.
