Romelu Lukaku Reveals How Chelsea Players Treated Him on Return to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are making big moves in the transfer window as they signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. Lukaku was previously a Chelsea player but could never break into the starting eleven at the Blues. However, things are very different now.
Lukaku has become one of the best strikers in football and the £97.5 million fee that they paid for him is certainly eye-catching. It’s the second biggest amount ever paid by an English club. The record is currently held by Jack Grealish who signed for Manchester City for £100 million.
Lukaku recently gave his first interview as a Chelsea player and talked about the leaders in the club’s dressing room. When a reporter asked him about his relationship with the rest of the squad, his response was positive.

“Leader, I think Azpi’s the captain, and he’s been here for many years, and he’s a great captain. You know, when I was in quarantine, he was already messaging me and stuff, about where to find houses and stuff, and it was like I was never gone. The relationship’s still intact and also with the rest of the boys,” the Belgian said.
However, it’s yet to be seen how Lukaku will perform in the Premier League. The Belgian had a torrid time at his last stint in the English top flight. He was playing for Manchester United and fell out of the starting eleven in his last days with the club.
Even when his form was bad, the goals never dried up and he has scored at least 15 goals in every season since 2012.

It was his partnership with Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez which was vital as Inter finally won the league by a lead of 12 points. However, it’s hard to see them repeating this feat after selling Lukaku. Meanwhile, Chelsea will aim to build on their UEFA Champions League win last season and go for the Premier League crown.
