Spain is one of the most successful nations in the history of international football. Their dominance during the years of 2008-2012 is unparalleled and was certainly their golden generation. Currently, Spanish national team manager Luis Enrique has the responsibility to get them back to the top.

However, it’s not going to be easy as the nation is in a state of transition with several young players and a few older ones who might retire soon. The World Cup in Qatar will be the Last Dance for several of these players, and it’ll be interesting to see how Spain does in the competition.

Luis Enrique talks about the World Cup

According to manager Luis Enrique, Spanish fans shouldn’t keep extraordinarily high expectations for their nation. He revealed that Argentina and Brazil are favourites for the competition and stand above other teams.

Moreover, he added that Spain won’t win all of their games in a dominant fashion, stating the French National team of 2018 as an example.

I see Argentina and Brazil well above all the other national teams. If some expect us to win all of the games and do so by thrashing our opponents, they know nothing of modern football. Look at France, the [2018] World Cup Champions and [2021] Nations League winners,” he said.

Ansu Fati will get back to his best for Spain

However, for Spain to succeed, they need their best players. One of those players is young star Ansu Fati, who has struggled with injuries. The FC Barcelona forward was the youngest player to score for Spain before his teammate Gavi broke the record.

Enrique spoke about Fati’s talent and revealed that he will get back to his level. Moreover, he also added that they will not hurry the youngster back and take any risks.

I have no doubt that he will return to his level. He is a unique player in terms of his rapport with goals. We can’t be in a hurry. He’s had a very difficult year and we must mark the necessary steps that I believe are the best for him. We are not going to take any risks,” Enrique revealed.
