The USMNT has one of the youngest core of talents out of all national teams in the world. This relatively inexperienced team will be tested on the biggest stage in the World Cup in Qatar. Players like Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie will have to carry the mantel for their younger counterparts.

However, both of them haven’t turned 25 yet, which goes to show the level of talent of this latest generation of American footballers. Another upcoming superstar is Brenden Aaronson, Premier League club Leeds United’s latest new signing.

The USMNT forward is only 21 years old and has a lot of versatility in his arsenal. His performances for Red Bull Salzburg drew rave reviews from all accounts this season, and this move was only a matter of time.

Brenden Aaronson’s form for RB Salzburg

Aaronson moved to Salzburg in January 2021 and has enjoyed a very good spell of form there. Interestingly, Jesse Marsch was the manager of Philadelphia Union when Aaronson was sold to Salzburg, and the American manager wanted to reunite with his young star at Leeds United.

While at Salzburg, Aaronson managed to record figures of 13 goals and 15 assists in just 66 games. The forward has been capped 18 times by the USMNT and the management there sees him as a future starter. Leeds United paid £25 million to sign Aaronson, and the American star has signed a five-year deal with the club.

Other USMNT stars in the Premier League

However, he won’t be the only USMNT star in the Premier League as he joins Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic and Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen. Unfortunately, Pulisic hasn’t had a good time in England as has failed to find a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s starting eleven.

Similarly, Steffen has played as a back-up to City’s starting goalkeeper Ederson for most of the season. The American played a measly nine games this season, and will desperately look for a move away to garner some game time.

It would be interesting to see if Aaronson can break the recent trend of Americans struggling in the Premier League or whether he’ll fail like his peers.
