As global tensions continue to rise, the world takes notice. Due to the same, Chelsea FC owner, the Russian and Israeli businessman, Roman Abramovich, has faced a lot of criticism from the English government. As a result, Abramovich had to relieve control of Chelsea and hand over the stewardship to the trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation.

I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values. That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC. I believe that currently, they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans,” the businessman said in Chelsea’s post.

Football pundit Gary Neville criticizes Roman Abramovich on his move

However, everyone wasn’t as supportive of Abramovich’s statement as Chelsea fans. Former Manchester United footballer, Gary Neville, spoke about the situation and said that the Russian oligarch’s decision was a rather cowardly move. He also added that the owners of the Big six in England were insulated from reality.

I thought it was cowardly to throw a hospital pass to the good people on the charity foundation board. It’s quite clear he runs the club with Marina and Cech. Top 6 owners are insulated from reality. They think they can put a smart PR team around them to con us,” Neville said.
