Manchester United have had a shaky start to their 2021-22 season. The dip in form started with their Champions League opener against Young Boys, where the Belgian team shocked them. The Red Devils were then eliminated from the Carabao Cup by West Ham. Soon after, they suffered a close defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League. They were headed for another disappointing result yesterday when Cristiano Ronaldo came to the rescue.

United were headed for another disappointing draw against Villarreal before Cristiano Ronaldo scored a last-minute winner. While CR7 was instrumental in United’s victory at the end, the game was not without its drama.

United started trailing in the 53rd minute, thanks to a superb finish from Paco Alcacer. Seven minutes later, though, they equalized when left-back Alex Telles scored his debut goal for United with an excellent volley. For the next half an hour, the game appeared to be heading for a draw. However, Ronaldo’s late intervention ensured the victory for the Red Devils.

Ronaldo’s goal was a proper team goal. Fred whipped in a delightful cross from the left wing to Ronaldo, who did a one-two with Jesse Lingard inside the box. He then finished it off himself from an acute angle. His goal sent the crowd into a frenzy.

He then pointed out Cristiano’s elite mentality and how admirable it is. “That’s just what he’s done throughout his career. He’s so strong mentally, he just stays in the game.“I’ve seen him all day, the way he’s built up for this game, how focused he’s been, and when he gets that one chance it’s a goal.”
