Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world, and he proved himself again after winning his seventh Ballon d’Or in 2021. He won the prestigious award for his performances with FC Barcelona and Argentina, but he finally left the club after spending over 20 years there.
The same summer, Messi joined Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer and got back with his former teammate, Neymar Jr. However, the move hasn’t worked out well for him as the Argentinian forward had only scored the one goal for PSG in Ligue 1 before their match against Lille. Nevertheless, things are starting to look up.

Lionel Messi and his fantastic performance for PSG
PSG are running away with the Ligue 1 title and they continued on their journey after beating LOSC Lille by a score of 5-1. Midfielder Danilo Pereira was the unlikely scorer who got the first goal in the 10th minute. He added another in the second half to get his brace.
Presnel Kimpembe, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi scored the other three goals. Messi’s performance was simply delightful as the Argentinian forward scored a goal and an assist in one of his best performances for the club in Ligue 1 so far. He was much more involved in the game and it looks like he is getting to his best form.
Notably, PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is being careful with Messi, as he is just returning from having been diagnosed with COVID-19. However, it looks like it’s working out for both of them right now.
