Cristiano Ronaldo has always been one of the most clutch players of all time. He has won several games for his teams in the dying minutes of a tie, and when the going gets tough, Ronaldo steps up. Certainly, the Portuguese forward will need to do it again today.

Manchester United will face Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League Round-of-16 tie. This is the second leg, and the first leg ended as a 1-1 draw in Madrid. United do have the advantage as the match will be played at Old Trafford. Moreover, Ronaldo is in fantastic form right now after scoring a hat-trick against Spurs over the wekend.

Marcos Llorente warns his teammates against focusing on Cristiano Ronaldo

One of Atletico Madrid’s best players this season, Marcos Llorente, has seen Ronaldo up close. The Spaniard won the UCL at Real Madrid as Ronaldo’s teammate and had some advice for his team before their match.

When you have players like that you always need to be on your guard, they have some other great players that play at a really high level and we have to be aware of all of them,” Llorente said.

He didn’t stop there and added that the club was going through a good patch of form currently. Llorente fancies his chances to progress in the tie and thinks that the game will be completely open.

The Spanish midfielder has been in important matches like this before, knocking Liverpool out with his two goals in 2020. This time around, he would want to replicate that performance and knock United out.

Llorente revealed that Atletico know about United’s advantages in the tie. To go through at this stage, they need to be calm and follow their instructions to the dot.

“It’s going to be a really tough game, the team will have to have a good attitude and resilience to come away with the result and get through to the last eight. They’re playing at home, we know the advantages they have,” the Spaniard added.
