Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli is a man in demand. The 23-year-old enjoyed a great campaign with Sassuolo in the Seria A and followed it up with massive performances in the Euros. However, with both Arsenal and Juventus are currently circling around him, and it seems highly unlikely that Sassuolo will keep hold of him.

Fabrizio Romano came out with a new update on the situation via Twitter. The Italian journalist revealed the details of the present situation after talking to former Juventus player and current vice-chairman of the club, Pavel Nedved.

Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved: ‘We’re in talks with Sassuolo to sign Locatelli. We’re convinced we made the right bid to reach an agreement. We’re really confident to complete the deal as soon as possible,‘” Romano tweeted. He also revealed that the Premier League club, Liverpool, is not in the race to sign Locatelli.

According to their standards, Juventus had a very subpar season last year and finished fourth in the Serie A, barely making the champions league. This is not acceptable for a club of their caliber. Hence, they fired former player and manager Andrea Pirlo and re-signed Massimiliano Allegri to lead the club to their heights again.

The team has a rock-solid defense with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Federico Chiesa, Alvaro Morata, and Paulo Dybala in the attack. Swedish youngster Dejan Kulusevski played a few times, too, along with Italian star Federico Bernardeschi. However, their midfield was a massive problem.

The signing of Manuel Locatelli will help Juve improve their midfield. Their current arsenal of midfielders includes Rodrigo Bentancur, Adrien Rabiot, Arthur, and Aaron Ramsey. Pirlo also used Weston McKinnie in a box-to-box role last season, and the USMNT player scored a few important goals.

Pavel Nedved provides an update on Manuel Locatelli

The transfer seems to be as close as possible, as Pavel Nedved provided a positive update on the situation yesterday. “We spoke to Sassuolo, and we made our offer, which we believe is appropriate for the current climate, with the way finances and the transfer market have been affected by Covid,” Nedved explained to Sport Mediaset.

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has previously revealed that Locatelli’s favored destination is Juventus. If the midfielder wants to go there, Arsenal’s interest won’t materialize into anything. As a result, Locatelli is more likely to end up being a Juventus player in the end.
