The World Cup in Qatar is here, and fans are extremely excited. It’s a special tournament and Qatar has never hosted it before. However, like every other edition of the competition, this time around the World Cup won’t be held in the summer.

The decision to shift the World Cup to the months of November and December was made to combat the high temperatures that the nation of Qatar records in the summer. Playing an entire tournament there would be a problem and a potential health hazard.

The nation has come up with a way to combat the heat in December too as they have made fully air-conditioned stadiums.

US authorities won’t make the same mistake that Qatar made

However, the fact that the competition is being held in December is an anomaly. It is a problem for club football as it would come in the middle of the season. December is usually the time when the Champions League group stages end and the games begin to pile up for the clubs. They’ll now have to find a way to work around it.

However, the World Rugby Council will not make the same mistake and they would try to frame the Rugby World Cup in accordance with the NFL season. World Rugby’s chief executive Alan Gilpin spoke about their plans in an interview and revealed that they will try to organize the competition in accordance with the leagues.

“That will involve some grown-up discussions with professional leagues around the world and the impacts that could have on their seasons. We’re not going to do a Qatar and just plonk it in the middle of a lot of other competitions. There are those considerations to have,” Gilpin said.

The World Cup in Qatar

This is the first time that any Arab country is hosting the World Cup, and the second time it has been held in Asia. Qatar has built eight new stadiums from scratch for this tournament with the best amenities.
