“I Want Mbappe in my Team”- Sergio Ramos on Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG for Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos shocked the world when he signed for PSG after his contract with Los Blancos expired. He joins Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum as new arrivals at the French club, with Italian goalkeeper and the UEFA Euro 2020 player of the tournament Gianluigi Donnarumma soon to follow.

It’s a huge transfer window from the Parisians who are looking to make another push for the UCL this season. Ramos spoke to various Spanish outlets in an interview, and Managing Madrid reported on it. Talking about his teammate and French forward Kylian Mbappe, Ramos revealed what he thought about his future.

I want Mbappe in my team. Everyone is free to make their own decision. We are a big club with a magnificent project. All great players must go through Real Madrid at some point in their career, but right now, I want him at my side.

“I personally want to play with the best in the world, and Mbappe is among the best. I also have a great desire to play with Neymar, whom I have played against many times when he played for Barcelona,” Sergio Ramos explained.

The former Sevilla defender also heaped a lot of praise on Real Madrid and added that he would never celebrate a goal against Madrid. Ramos has a lot of love for Madrid fans who idolized him and loved him during his long tenure of over 15 years.

I am very happy with the step I have taken. Looking back is wrong. I am adventurous, and leaving a comfort zone is always important,” Ramos concluded.

All hell broke loose in Madrid as on 16th June; Real Madrid announced that Ramos would leave the club after 16 years. During his farewell event, Ramos, who had initially asked for a 2-year offer, mentioned that he accepted a one-year contract renewal with a salary reduction; however, the offer had expired without his knowledge.

It caused a lot of controversy in the world of football, but it was also a huge opportunity for a team to get a world-class center-back.

PSG swooped in, and on 8th July 2021, it was announced that Ramos had signed a 2-year contract with Paris Saint Germain. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Spanish legend.
