Russian Billionaire Makes a Huge Move Amidst Rise in Global Tensions- ‘With the Club’s Best Interest at Heart’

Now, as global tensions rise, affects of the same are being across the world; in this case, at the home of European and World Champions, Chelsea FC. Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s owner for the past 20 years, has faced a lot of criticism recently.

It all came down to a standstill on Saturday as Abramovich announced that he would step down as the sole owner of Chelsea, and give back the stewardship and care of the club to the trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation. Abramovich revealed that he has the club’s best interest at heart, and he wants to play a positive role in the local community.

I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values. That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC. I believe that currently, they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans,” Abramovich’s statement on Chelsea’s official Instagram handle.

Chelsea Under Roman Abramovich

The club has won everything in club football during the 20 years of his ownership, including the biggest price of them all, two UEFA Champions League winner medals. The club won the UCL just last season and are looking to build a team that would challenge for the top honors every season.

Roman Abramovich made Chelsea into the giants there are today. Champion of England, of Europe, and of the World, there is no trophy that doesn’t shine proudly in the decorated cabinet at Stamford Bridge.

For years to come, generations will remember Roman as the man who brought glory days to one of the most successful clubs in English football history. But as he moves away from the club with uncertainty hanging over his future with the blues, will Chelsea carry on this legacy, or will this success become a thing of the past.
