Serena Williams plays the role of a college student Chloe Spiers in ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’. Chloe was a basketball player on scholarship whose topless videos go viral.

Serena plays the role with inspiring confidence and does justice to the character. Although she did not cover a lot of screen time, Williams managed to make a mark in the legal drama series.

The scene opens with Chloe playing basketball while the detectives try to pry in on her movement the night of the murder. Chloe responds to all the questions with confidence- classic Serena.

minute you’re having couple drinks with some friends, the next thing you know, you’re all over the Internet like some — some kind of p**n queen.“ “Yeah, but, Chloe, you took of your clothes in public. Nobody forced you to do that”

When the detectives ask her about how she knew Tyler- the victim and (as later discovered) molester, Chloe did not react out of fear. Instead, she bravely talked about how he took a topless video of her and made it go viral. After she got in touch with him and asked him to take the video down, he refused.

The scene is an ironic commentary on the patriarchy and how it normalizes women not having control over their bodies. A woman is always over-penalized for making mistakes, even if she admits she just “got drunk and stupid”. This is evident by the fact that Chloe could lose her scholarship over a random video that was uploaded.

Chloe’s statements lead to the detectives immediately ruling her out from the list of suspects. The needle then pointed to the other members of the “Brotherhood” fraternity. This leads to the detectives investigating all of them closely.

Williams has never been one-tracked
