“Special Moment”: Simona Halep, Iga Swiatek and Tennis World Laud Barbora Krejcikova for Clinching French Open 2021 Title

It’s Saturday and the women’s French Open 2021 final between Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Barbora Krejcikova tops the headlines. It was the first time they faced each other and the first time they ever were part of a single’s Grand Slam final.

In the end, the Czech star prevailed and emerged as the champion, winning the match 6-1 2-6 6-4, in close to two hours.

Barbora Krejcikova kicks off the French Open 2021 final in style

The Russian player began proceedings in the French Open 2021 final and held serve in the opening game. However, the Czech international was dominant throughout the set and broke Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova during the set’s second, fourth, and sixth games. It took her 32 minutes to wrap the first set, 6-1.

In the following set, the tables were turned as the Russian upped the ante. She was the first one to draw blood in this set, as she broke Barbora Krejcikova. Within 10 minutes into the second set, Pavlyuchenkova was up 3-0. After the seventh game in the set, the Russian took a medical time-out. On resuming play, she broke Barbora to clinch the set 6-2.

In the final set, both athletes exchanged breaks early on but were on serve at 3-3. In the following game, the Russian was broken. After 38 minutes into the final set, Krejcikova was crowned champion, winning the set 6-4. 

However, during the match, there were reactions from some famous personalities concerning this match. Judy Murray, Andy Murray’s mother was the one to lead, followed by others.

Two-time Wimbledon champion and compatriot Petra Kvitova congratulated the champion and stated, “Congratulations Barbora! What a tournament.”

Former great Mary Pierce stated, Congratulations @BKrejcikova! So happy for you to win your first grand slam singles title at @rolandgarros What an incredible moment for you!”

Puerto Rican player Monica Puig said, “@BKrejcikova INCREDIBLE! Congratulations! So inspiring. #FrenchOpen

Australian Open tournament director, Craig Tiley tweeted, “Congratulations on your breakthrough Grand Slam singles title @BKrejcikova. Your road to the @rolandgarros women’s title and the doubles final has been inspirational.”

Wishes kept pouring in for the French Open 2021 champion  

Former Grand Slam champion, Simona Halep said, “Congrats@BKrejcikova on making history! Enjoy every second of this special moment @rolandgarros

American star Andy Roddick commented concerning her career prize money and said, “That’s just in singles …. She’s in the doubles final to be played also.”

Former Indian player Somdev Devvarman congratulated and stated, “Her reactions after winning may not suggest it, but Barbora Krejcikova’s life has just changed forever! French Open champ 2021! And she has the doubles final tomorrow! What an effort!”

Australian legend Rod Laver tweeted, Congratulations @BKrejcikova, the first Grand Slam singles title is an incredible feeling. May there be many more for you.”
Last year’s champion Iga Swiatek stated, Congrats @BKrejcikova !!!! The run that you have during this tournament and over the last few weeks is pretty awesome. See you on court tomorrow!”
