Marvel’s Spider-man: Miles Morales has already generated quite a hype since it was announced during the PS5 launch this month. This standalone PS5 exclusive takes the players through the journey of Miles Morales’ life as he discovers his identity as a new Spiderman under the mentorship of Peter Parker.

This title has a lot of expectations to live up to, especially as the successor to the PS4 exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man. While Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not a sequel, it is set in the same universe. Besides, Miles Morales is already quite a popular Spider-man, thanks to the 2018 film, Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse.

Brian Horton, the creative director of Insomniac Games, talks about this much-awaited Spiderman game and how it will feel absolutely stunning on the new Playstation 5, on the official Playstation blog.

Expanding the Spider-man universe with Miles Morales

Brian says that Insomniac Games has loved Miles Morales as a character for a long time now. Bryan Intihar, the creative director of the 2018 PS4 hit Marvel’s Spider-Man, had first suggested that Miles should be included in the same universe as Peter Parker.

In the E3 2017 trailer of Spider-Man, the developers had included Miles in a brief clip at the end of the demo.

Brian says that Miles’ multi-cultural background reflects a more modern, diverse world. His origin story as a Spider-Man was something that needed its own game. Brian adds,

“…we wanted to give players a new story, with new set-pieces, fresh villains, and unique quests across Marvel’s New York City. This had to be a can’t-miss next adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe.”

The gameplay is set in Harlem, where Miles lives now. The events pick up a year after the first game. “Marvel’s New York is covered in snow, and just before Christmas break, a war between an energy corporation and a high-tech criminal army has broken out. Miles’s new home in Harlem is at the heart of the battle.”, Brian says.

What more will PS5 add to the gameplay as a console

Insomniac Games is really excited to see how the game demonstrates the power of PS5’s enhanced hardware. Brian says that the game will almost negligible loading time, 3D audio, ray tracing, and the sensory experience of the DualSense Controller. He added that the characters have been made more realistic with 4D scans and improved skin shading.

“As you experience Miles’s story, you’ll see, hear, and feel things in a whole new way, all thanks to PS5.”

It seems that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales might be even bigger than its predecessor, with a whole new gameplay experience with the powerful PS5.
