French player Benoit Paire has been a controversial figure on the ATP tour. Since the start of the year, he has had a lot of drama on the court, such as spitting and losing his matches deliberately. Hence because of this, sponsors have distanced themselves from him and that showed at French Open 2021.

Paire was playing young Norwegian Casper Ruud in the first round of Roland Garros 2021. However, he was seen wearing a red polo t-shirt which was similar to the ones the ball boys and girls are wearing. It was later confirmed that it was the same polo t-shirt without the Lacoste logo on the left.

The ball bog polo t-shirt is red like the red clay of Roland Garros. Moreover, it has the Roland Garros logo on the right and the Lacoste logo on the left. The collar has white and black stripes on the borders. Paire wore the t-shirt with the Roland Garros logo but had removed the Lacoste logo. The ball boy t-shirts are available on Roland Garros’ website for €100 or $122.

Lacoste is a French apparel brand that is one of the sponsors of the French Open. Paire was associated with the brand, however, they parted ways during the 2020 off-season. Their partnership had started back in 2012 and recently ended in December 2020.

The reason for the split, according to Paire, is that he will be creating his own clothing brand. The logo will be a cocktail glass and he will be the brand ambassador of his brand. Earlier in the year, he revealed that the brand will be a mix of lifestyle and tennis.

Recently Paire‘s racquet sponsors, Babolat, were also upset with his recent behavior. He has had angry outbursts and has admitted to playing only for the paychecks. Hence, Babolat ensured that they will have a dialogue with the Frenchman so that he can uphold the values instituted by the brand.
