The Xbox Showcase 2023 saw Bethesda revealing tons of new information on Starfield, allegedly their most ambitious project in years. In Starfield, players can explore the vast lengths of space, traversing through solar systems and planets, building their bases and affiliating themselves with one or many of the factions that hold control over specific regions.

In an attempt to give the fans their money’s worth, Bethesda also announced a unique project: a Starfield-themed limited edition controller and headset, the Constellation Edition, in collaboration with Microsoft. However, fans have frowned exclaiming that Bethesda missed out on an opportunity as a fan showed off his keyboard design theme based on Starfield.

Xbox’s Starfield gets its own peripherals, fans drool

Bethesda officially announced Starfield’s release in November, last year. The scope and magnitude of the game blew players over with the initial announcement and they cannot wait for the game’s release in September this year. In the Xbox Showcase, the developers confirmed a plethora of new information about the game including its star cities, starships, and combat design. Since the Showcase, fans wait eagerly to get on their customized spaceships and explore the universe of Starfield that will host over 1,000 planets across 100 star systems.

In a YouTube video from June 12, Bethesda dropped further information on Starfield Direct, the one place to learn more about the details of Starfield. In the video, the developers gave their fans an experience that would transcend them beyond our world and solar system, and into the vast unknown. In the video, Bethesda also confirmed that they believe an experience like Starfield deserves its own customized tools for maximum immersion. This goal has led the devs to team up with Xbox to design a one-of-a-kind headset and Xbox controller.

No keyboard makeover: A missed opportunity?

Since the peek into the limited edition controller and headset, fans are looking forward to trying the peripherals out hands-on. The equipment looks lucrative for any gamer to turn around and glance at it more than once.

Fans have also given flight to their imagination and come up with their own take on the designs. However, many PC gamers were disappointed to learn their choice of weapon, the keyboard, did not get any makeover in the video. In a Reddit post, a fan posted pictures of his own design on a keyboard, that many approved of.

Following the post, many Redditors have said that Bethesda may have missed out on a huge opportunity by not including the said fan’s design on their Constellation edition controller and headset.

As September comes closer, the community waits if Bethesda does come up with cosmetic design plans for keyboard users and let them in on the journey of a lifetime.
