The only little thing that seemed positive at that moment was when he came back to consciousness in a while and seemed to talk to his teammates.

Earl Thomas, who was one of the players who hit Rudolph, expressed his worry after the match.

“I didn’t think much of it,” Thomas was quoted as saying by the Post-Gazette. “I was just getting to the ball, trying to make a play for my team. I hit the strike zone like we talked about, I didn’t go high. I didn’t try to intentionally hurt him. I’m worried about him. I heard he’s at the hospital. My prayers go out to him and his family.”

However, it is now reported that he will not be returning owing to concussion.

Also, after the incident took place, there was a rather bizarre incident that took place on the field. The cart that was brought by the medical staff to carry Rudolph broke down.

It was initially reported that it was an operator error, and it was thought to be shameful of the such a huge team and league could not handle an emergency situation. The NFL, on its part said that though the cart broke down, there was another cart available, which weren’t brought onto the field as the medical staff though it was no longer required.

“A cart was brought on the field in the event it was needed,” the league said in a statement. “After evaluating the player, medical staff determined a cart was not necessary in this instance. Had one been needed, there was a backup cart on the other sideline which was immediately available. He received appropriate medical care per gameday protocols, and is now in the concussion protocol.”
