A few moments after, the World Number two, Naomi Osaka got knocked out from Wimbledon Championships 2019 the series of upsets continued in SW19 as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev join the list of causalities.

The seventh seed, Tsitsipas lost 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 to Thomas Fabbiano and the Czech qualifier, Jiri Vesely disappointed the sixth seed, Zverev 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 in the opening round of the grass-court major. Zverev just had two grass court victories in hand before stepping on the British turf.

Stefanos Tsitsipas could take the opening set but wasn’t successful in maintaining his supremacy in the following sets. The Greek lad was serving to stay in the match, but he came with a wide forehand and Fabiano got the break of serve in the last game and advanced into the second round after causing a major upset.

The five-set entertainment was accompanied by Stefanos Tsitsipas saving two match points in the dramatic fourth set and later played a rollercoaster tiebreaker with the Greek winning 10-8 in the tiebreaker and drove the match in the deciding set.

“I am very disappointed now,” Stefanos Tsitsipas said after his loss. “People expected things from me, I didn’t deliver. When you get such nice support and ruin everything by yourself and it’s devastating. I should be the one creating, playing my game and I can’t seem to find a way to do that.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas had a good run in the Australian Grand Slam and played a tough match against Stan Wawrinka in the round of 16 of the Paris major. However, it was a disappointing opening for him on the British court and before coming to the London major, he could win just two matches on the grass.

With the early exits of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev, the quest for a Grand Slam title amongst the younger generation of tennis is still swinging.
