Stefanos Tsitsipas to Quit Social Media After a Disappointing Result at US Open 2019

World No.7 Stefanos Tsitsipas was stunned by Andrey Rublev 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-7(9), 5-7 in the first round of the US Open 2019. This was his fourth consecutive defeat on the ATP Tour and second straight first-round loss at the Grand Slam events.

The Greek star, who has been an active celebrity on many social network platforms has decided to take a time out from the social media after a series of disappointing result during the US Open series. Tsitsipas will be shutting down all his accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to dejunk his life.

The 21-year-old explained that taking a break from social media is good for his mental peace. “I believe it’s going to help a lot on the mental side and also fewer distractions in my life,” Tsitsipas said in a video posted on Twitter.

Stefanos Tsitsipas believes that social media is the best way for him to primarily focus on his family and the people who are close to him. At the same time, Tsitsipas wants to keep his personal life out of the limelight by leaving social media.

“The reason why I am doing this is to refresh myself, to kind of bring myself closer to people that matter to me and not concentrate on people that I don’t know and don’t really have anything to do with me. By doing this, I will have more time for my loved ones and people I really care about,” Tsitsipas explained to his followers.

The 2019 Australian Open semifinalist concluded,  “It’s something I don’t think I will regret it because it’s like detox and I am sure it is going to make me feel better, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t.  It’s something to kind of give a new idea of what we are all used to do on a daily basis.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas will next feature at the 2019 Laver Cup, which is scheduled to start from September 20. The next-gen star is placed in Team Europe at the Laver Cup and will share the dressing room with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Fabio Fognini, Alexander Zverev, and Dominic Thiem.
