Most women are often under certain health risks on top of the insurmountable pain while giving birth. 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams has been through the horrors of postpartum struggles herself. Having witnessed her struggles from close quarters, her husband, Alexis Ohanian, knows all too well about the horrors of post-partum complications. He recently tweeted about his business partner, Cristina Georgoulakis, and her revelation about pregnancy complications.

Ohanian has been popular among the masses for being the cofounder of Reddit. However, his latest venture in Fund Management has gained a lot of traction from the moment it was established. Cristina accompanies Ohanian as a major partner at the firm, along with several other partners.

Ohanian voices his concern for pregnancy complications

Anja Health’s founder, Kathryn Cross, shared her interview with Cristina over a series of tweets. Ohanian, who had earlier seen his wife experience the terrifying after effects of pregnancy, shared the tweet. He tried to divert the needed attention towards the cause.

Alexis starts the tweet by jotting down the innate qualities of his partner and friend Cristina. He said: “Honest. Candid. And important. My partner @cristina_laki shared her birthing stories.” He hinted to his followers to check out the tweets to understand and empathize with postpartum trauma. He further highlights how every mother in this world should have a perfect birthing experience. However, this is not the case with more than just a few women out there, and the USA is no exception. In his words: “Every mama deserves a great experience, but a shocking number don’t get it — even in the USA.”

Back in 2018, Serena shed light on her life threatening first pregnancy in her HBO documentary. Williams, without hesitating, said she could have died soon after giving birth to Olympia. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism after her delivery.

Williams gave birth to Olympia through C-section: the reason why she had to go under surgery for a second time when the diagnosis came out. Fortunately, it was successful and there were no further complications. She even had her second daughter, Adira, without any issues.
