“Still Paying the Price”: US Winter Olympics Legend Lindsey Vonn Reveals the Painful Consequences of her Olympic Career

When it comes to skiing, Lindsey Vonn is one of those names that dominated the sport for a long time. Even though she has retired, Vonn remains one of the best in the business still.

In her phenomenal career, Vonn has achieved multiple titles. That includes 4 World cup overall championships and 8 World Cup season titles. Notably, Vonn not only dominated the downhill ski competitions but also the multiple ski events. In fact, she was the first American woman to win the gold medal at the downhill event at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Recently, during the Beijing Winter Olympics, Lindsey Vonn opened up on how years of rigorous training have started to have an impact on her health now.

Vonn is still recovering

Lindsey Vonn retired in 2019, citing multiple injuries as the reason. Not to mention, she had missed several parts of previous seasons then, because of injuries.

Being an Olympic athlete, Lindsey has gone through years of rigorous training and practice. She trained hard during her prime years, which led her to sometimes ignore injuries and perform, anyway.

Lindsey retired in 2019 after winning the Bronze at the World Championships. She has previously revealed that she is enjoying retirement, but it looks like it’s not all been so easy yet.

Vonn took to her social media recently, giving us a glimpse into what looks like a regular feature of her post-retirement life.

“Still paying the price…,” wrote Lindsey in an Instagram story. In the photo, it seemed like she was in some kind of physical therapy session. Several needles were sticking out of her thighs. In a bit of pain, it seemed like Vonn was still facing the repercussions of being a world-class athlete.

Lindsey also shared another story with a rather insightful quote. The post shared talked about how people don’t just decide their future, but shape it with their actions.

“People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures,” posted Vonn. The quote was written by F.M. Alexander.

It is no secret that being an elite athlete comes with its own perks and benefits, as well as setbacks in the long term. Previously also, the alpine skier has talked about how she wakes up in pain every day and her injuries which haven’t yet healed. A glorious career and a dozen accolades to show for it, if anything, her injuries are a testament to the legacy she created in the sport. Here’s hoping she recovers to the best of her ability as soon as possible.
