The group stage of Valorant Champions 2023 has already begun in Los Angeles. While most of the matches are expected to be an ultimate thriller, few seem like an underwhelming competition. In a similar context, the latest clash between two teams has been pointed out by a Valorant fan but for the wrong reason. A fan has alleged the Valorant Pro from Evil Geniuses has an ‘ego’ problem. The player also called out the pro’s trash-talking strategy against a weak associate team.

The most prestigious Valorant competition of the year has 16 teams vying for $2,250,000 in cash prizes. Fans can expect a month of thrilling matches because the top teams from North America, EMEA, the Pacific, and China have qualified for the Champions 2023. The August 7 lineup had a clash between Evil Geniuses and FPX. Besides claiming a convincing win, a fan was highly disappointed with the team’s player. Demon1 who had recently joined the Evil Geniuses is now under the fan spotlight.

A user following the tournament closely took their disappointment to Twitter. It wasn’t about gameplay, event conduction, or rivalry. The tweet addressed the allegedly problematic behavior of the game’s star Demon1. The player had recently announced his addition to the American team’s main roster.

The decision has benefitted the team as they are currently the second-ranked team in the tournament. Moreover, Evil Geniuses is one of the favorites to win the tournament. But the user thought the last match’s trash talk was inappropriate and told a lot about Demon1’s character.

“I think Demon1 is an insane player, but stuff like this makes me not want to support him and EG ik they don’t care”, the user wrote in the tweet. Adding to the thread, the player also supported the opinion with some facts. “For context, this is the current 2nd best team vs the lowest ranked team at the tournament they have no pre-existing rivalry (I think rivalries and trash talk are good, just not in random ass situations like this)”, the latter mentioned. All in all the player concluded that the behavior was not sporting and could have been brought down for such an underwhelming game.

FPX has already entered the Valorant tournament with some low expectations. The team is currently undergoing its transitional phase and a heated trash talk might not help the team’s spirit. While some of the fans felt the same, few thought the user overreacted. The fans coined the match as the ‘beginning of a new rivalry.’
