“Super High” – Gael Monfils Reflects on Roger Federer’s Level of Tennis Ahead of French Open 2021

When tennis is mentioned, it is Swiss superstar Roger Federer that comes to most people’s minds first. The Basel-born player has won hearts not just amongst fans from all over the world but also the players on Tour who are fond of him. Over the years, he has managed to make himself an idol for many people, both inside and outside the pro-tennis world.

Recently, French tennis star Gael Monfils had indulged in a practice session with the Swiss ace. Since the latter has started playing tennis on a regular basis again, the former spoke about his current form. He praised the 39-year-old player for the talent he possesses and found his level of gameplay to be improving.

Gael Monfils and Roger Federer practiced in Geneva

The Swiss athlete was competing at the ATP 250 event in Geneva. However, he lost in the opening round and decided to practice in the Swiss city. During one of those days, Gael Monfils dropped by and the two players engaged in training sessions. 

Both players are currently now in the French capital, preparing themselves for the second Grand Slam event of the season. Roger will be visiting Roland Garros for the first time since his semifinal exit in 2019. In the previous season, Gael exited in the first round.

The Swiss star will be playing his first match tomorrow against Denis Istomin. It will be his first Grand Slam match since the Australian Open 2020. On the other side, the Frenchman will be up against Albert Ramos-Vinolas in his first-round match.
