Svetlana Kuznetsova Hires a New Coach For 2019

The Russian, Svetlana Kuznetsova began working with her Argentine coach, Guillermo Canas last year around the month of April. Before him, she was working with Roger Federer-lookalike coach Carlos Martinez, with whom she had teamed up for a long time. Canas trains tennis athletes in an academy in Miami, and he has worked with Ernests Gulbis and Jelena Jankovic.

The former World Number two tennis player, Svetlana Kuznetsova has parted ways with her coach Canas after working together for eleven months. Under his tutelage, she reached the quarterfinals of an International event in Istanbul. Later she dealt with some surgeries. Post that her career started deteriorating but she managed to bounce soon. The 2009 French Open champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Donna Vekic in the Citi Open final in Washington D.C and she extended her tournament’s record to 11–0. Also, she again broke into the top 100 rankings on the WTA list.

“I had to do a small surgery in my left wrist which caused me some pain the last few months…It went very well and I should be completely ok and ready to go in a few weeks with the hope for a great 2018 season. I’m thinking about my future. I’m 32 now and I can play for two or three more seasons…later I will have to find new goals and priorities in my life,” she mentioned after her victory in Washington. Svetlana Kuznetsova and the former World Number seven, Canas had a fertile tenure and the Russian spoke fluent Spanish with her coach.

Now she will be working with Arten Deripaska, who has previously coached Russian tennis players. At present, the 2004 Wimbledon winner, Svetlana Kuznetsov she is recovering from a knee injury and she hopes to make a comeback for the WTA event, Ladies Open Lugano in Switzerland.
