Microsoft recently decided to terminate its live-streaming platform Mixer and has entered into a partnership with Facebook Gaming. All existing Mixer streamers can transition into Facebook Gaming, and Mixer partners will also get a partner status at Facebook’s live-streaming platform. As a result of the merger, all Mixer websites and apps will redirect to Facebook Gaming by default, July 22 onwards.

Mixer grabbed the headlines last year after signing Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek in exclusivity deals reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars. However, Mixer always struggled to achieve similar viewer numbers and engagement as Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming.

Now, less than a year after signing both the high-profile streamers, Microsoft’s streaming platform is shutting down. This had led to widespread curiosity about the futures of both the streamers, considering Ninja and Shroud are two of the biggest names in the gaming industry. Twitch streamer, SypherPK, recently spoke about the situation and what the future could hold for them.

What Mixer Shutting Down Means for Ninja and Shroud

SypherPK speaks about Ninja and Shroud’s streaming future

SypherPK touched on how Ninja and Shroud reportedly received chunky payouts of $30m and $10m, respectively, after Mixer bought them out of their contracts. According to reports, Facebook Gaming tried to negotiate with Ninja and Shroud by offering them deals worth double their Mixer contracts. They denied the offers, forcing Mixer to buy them out, making them free agents.

I can tell you one thing if I know for certain is that Ninja and Shroud are not gonna stream anywhere for free,” SypherPK said.

The reason why he believes that is because both of them are extremely popular streamers. They received massive deals from Mixer earlier. Facebook Gaming offered them even more lucrative deals recently, which they declined. So it doesn’t make sense for them to stream on a new platform without any contracts.

Ninja and Shroud have said on Twitter that they are figuring out their next steps. SypherPK feels they are trying to land deals with Twitch or Youtube.

I assume, the reason both of them made a tweet saying they’re gonna try to figure out what’s going on is, they’re both gonna try to land a deal either with Twitch or YouTube.

Twitter Reacts to Ninja and Shroud Exit from Mixer

After Mixer, will it be Twitch or YouTube?

To this day, both Ninja and Shroud’s Twitch handles are still present and highlight the rabid following and watch-time they had amassed. While Ninja is still the most followed streamer on Twitch, Shroud was the face of FPS gaming on the platform.

Both the streamers have flourished on YouTube too. They have built an enormous presence there by uploading content regularly and keeping their audiences engaged. Therefore, both Twitch and YouTube are genuine options.

If I had to guess, I would guess that Shroud would come back to Twitch,” SypherPK stated.

He also mentioned how Ninja had a slight fall out with Twitch due to certain reasons, while nearing his Mixer move. So he feels Ninja could be leaning towards YouTube this time. However, being close friends with Ninja, SypherPK hopes he returns to Twitch.

If I had to say what I personally wish would happen, I really hope at least for Ninja that he comes back to Twitch.”

Wherever they go, fans will greet them equally. Such is the influence and caliber they have. Ultimately, whether Ninja and Shroud come back to Twitch or move to YouTube is a decision solely for them.
