The young sensation of tennis, Amanda Anisimova was born on 31 August 2001 in Freehold Township, New Jersey. She is born to Russian immigrant parents and she began playing tennis at the age of two.

In 2018, Amanda Anisimova became the youngest player to reach the fourth round at Indian Wells since Nicole Vaidisova in 2005 and then she was awarded wildcard in Miami Open the same year. 

Towards the end of the season, Anisimova reached the WTA final at Japan Women’s Open and ended up being a runner-up against Hseih Su-Wei, and consequently, she broke into the top 100 rankings. 

Anisimova gained recognition after reaching the pre-quarterfinals at Australian Open 2019 and over there she lost to the eventual finalist, Petra Kvitova. That year in Melbourne, her round one victory was her first-ever Grand Slam win.

The American won her maiden WTA title at Copa Colsanitas in Colombia, where she defeated Astra Sharma. And later made a deep run in the French Open 2019 by reaching the semifinals and also she dethroned the defending champion, Simona Halep en-route to the semis. Towards the end of 2019, she attained her career-high ranking of World Number 21.

She also reached the final in the WTA tournament in Hiroshima.

On the junior circuit, she achieved a career-high ITF junior ranking of number two in the world in 2016. She won her first Grand Slam title at the US Open juniors, where she defeated her compatriot Cori Gauff in the finals. She was also part of the United States team of the Fed Cup on the junior circuit.

Personal Tragedy

Anisimova lost her father Konstantin before the US Open 2019. He was her primary coach who taught her how to hold a racquet.
