However, his five-fight win streak suffered a bump when he clashed against Canelo Alvarez for the WBC and The Ring middleweight titles. Khan suffered a devastating sixth-round KO loss against Canelo in May 2016.

He then claimed two consecutive victories before falling to Terence Crawford via TKO in the sixth round in their WBO welterweight title clash.
