A few months later a three-team trade was completed involving the Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers. Wiggins went to the Minnesota Timberwolves as a part of the deal.

Playing for the Timberwolves, Wiggins went on to win NBA Rookie of the Year award for the 2014–15 season. But after winning this award, he wasn't able to reach his full potential with the Timberwolves.

Finally, after almost six years, they traded him to the Golden State Warriors in February 2020. Since his arrival at the Chase Center, Wiggins has improved on many fronts. The presence of veteran stars like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green is getting the best out of him, and now he has become a vital part of their team on both ends.
