Andrew Wiggins was born in Toronto, Ontario on February 23, 1995.
He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks before being drafted with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, making him just the second Canadian to be taken number one overall in the NBA draft. A few months later a three-team trade was completed involving the Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers. Wiggins went to the Minnesota Timberwolves as a part of the deal.
Playing for the Timberwolves, Wiggins went on to win NBA Rookie of the Year award for the 2014–15 season.
