Mateschitz started working in the marketing region at Unilever. He further moved to Blendax. While working for Blendax, he had to go for continuous tours. In one such tour, he came across the Thai drink- Krating Daeng. The drink helped him recover his jet-lag in a jiffy.

He further took the initiative to launch the drink globally. Along with the original developer of the drink- Chaleo Yoovidhya, Dietrich marketed the drink with a new official identity, Red Bull. It was in 1987 he launched the drink.

The native Austrian's with his aced strategies made the worldwide drink extremely popular.

He further marketed the drink as an important requirement for Sports through active sponsorships.

Red Bull was the prime sponsor of the Sauber F1 Team, which further ended its term in 2011. Following the lead, in 2004 Dietrich brought the Jaguar Racing Team from Ford. He launched the team with the new official recognition of the Red Bull Racing team in F1.

Subsequently, in 2005, he claimed over the Italian Minardi team and named it Scuderia Toro Rosso. In Italian, Toro Rosso further means Red Bull.

Along with the quadruple world champion Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull aced the F1 realm for four consecutive years, from 2010 to 2013.

Moreover,? in 2006, the Billionaire owned the Red Bull team to battle in the rim of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and K&N Pro Series East.? However, it lasted till 2011.

In 2004, Mateschitz acquired the legal rights over A1-Ring which he renamed as Red Bull Ring. It further hosted the F1 Austrian Grand Prix in 2014.

In the realm of football, Mateschitz attained vivid recognition too. Thus, in two consecutive years, 2005 and 2006, he procured two Football clubs. The SV Salzburg, which was named Red Bull Salzburg, and the American club MetroStars, naming it as New York Red Bulls.

Subsequently, in 2007 he set up the Red Bull Brasil team. Following that in 2008, he established Red Bull Ghana. Finally, in 2009,? he founded RBLeipzig soon after he gained rights on the playing license of SSV Markranstadt.

He also owned EHC Munchen, a German ice hockey club which he further renamed Red Bull Munchen.
