After taking part in the Jordan Brand Classic as a senior, Mitchell committed to play for the University of Louisville. He was in the rotation as a freshman but quickly gained starting rights in his sophomore year.

Mitchell wears jersey #45 as a tribute to Michael Jordan, who used to don the number in his baseball playing years. Furthermore, Mitchell averaged 15.6 points as a sophomore and decided to forego his remaining years to join the NBA.

Mitchell’s talents are hard to be ignored as he’s a shooting genius. The talented guard has been designed to perfection in the latest NBA 2K23 game, and he’s given an overall rating of 87.

Donovan Mitchell's NBA career

The Denver Nuggets initially selected Donovan Mitchell with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft but later traded him to the Utah Jazz. The team signed him up on a four-year deal, and the young point guard even received a sneaker deal from Adidas.

Mitchell took over as a starter right from his rookie year and showcased his immense talent on the big stage. He wowed fans by winning the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest in his maiden appearance and later made the All-Rookie First team.

The Jazz saw Mitchell and Gobert team up to form an effective partnership on the court. The former took little time settling into the league and burst onto the scene as a sophomore. He averaged 23.5 points during the 2018/19 regular season and notched up a career-high performance of 46 points during the season finale.

The Jazz enjoyed a decent run to the playoffs in 2020, where Mitchell set scoring records. He became just the third player after Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson to record two 50-pt games in a single playoff series when he achieved the feat against Denver Nuggets in the first round.

After another disappointing exit from the Playoffs in 2022, the Jazz decided to trade both their All-Stars and enter a rebuilding phase. In September 2022 Mitchell was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a blockbuster deal.
