The Italian tied the knot with former grand slam champion Flavia Pennetta. Fabio Fognini's wedding took place in Puglia in June 2016. One year later, the renowned tennis celebrity couple gave birth to their son, Frederico.

Fabio Fognini has conquered nine ATP singles titles. His best Grand Slam result came at French Open 2011, where he reached the quarterfinals. Fabio Fognini, partnering with Simone Bolelli, won the 2015 Australian Open doubles championship, making them the first all-Italian men's pair to win a major tournament in the Open era.

He won the Monte Carlo Masters 2019, which is by far the best result of his career.

The other eight titles have come in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Vina del Mar, Umag, Gstaad, Sao Paulo, Bastad, and Los Cabos.

Fognini's highest ATP ranking to date is no. 9, achieved in 2019.
