French player Gael Monfils is known to be a highly athletic player, who’s antics often entertain crowds. He turned pro back in 2004 and grabbed his first ATP title in the same year.
With that title under his belt, he vaulted up 200 places and found himself in the top 50. However, his career has often been blighted with injury, putting him out of action for extended periods of time. He did reach a career-high of 6 in the ATP rankings in 2016.
With regard to on-court achievements, Gael Monfils has eight ATP titles in the bag. Out of all of his eight ATP title wins, two have come from ATP tour 500 tournaments. The remaining six have been claimed at ATP 250 tournaments.
His maiden ATP title was at the Sopot Open in Poland, a clay-court event. Since then, he has won at the Open de Moselle, Open Sud de France twice, Stockholm Open, Washington Open, Qatar Open, and most recently, the Rotterdam Open earlier this year. Seven of these wins have been on the hardcourt, with one on clay.
Gael Monfils has gone through several sponsors over the course of his career. He was initially sponsored by Nike but switch to K-Swiss in 2010. Three years later, he was sponsored by Asics, all of these, was solely for clothes and shoes.
