Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin or as he’s more commonly known, ‘Triple G’ is a Kazakhstani professional boxer who competes in the middleweight division. Gifted with fantastic technical ability, Golovkin slowly became one of the best in the sport. He became a two-time middleweight champion of the world.

He’s currently the IBO and IBF middleweight champion and ranks #7 on TBRB’s pound-for-pound list and #10 on ESPN’s list. Among middleweights, Gennady Golovkin ranks #1 on TBRB, #2 ESPN, and #1 on The Ring Magazine list.

‘GGG’ had a fairly impressive amateur career. He represented Kazakhstan in the 2003 World Championships and won the gold. Golovkin also represented his country in Athens in 2004 and won the silver medal. It is reported he has fought in 350 amateur fights.

‘Triple G’ turned pro in 2006, taking on Gabor Balogh in Germany. And in the typical Gennady Golovkin fighting style, knocked him out in the first round. He has since become world champion, lose his belts, and become world champion again.

His run went from November 2008 to September 2016; a period in which he knocked out 23 consecutive opponents. The record still stands.

Golovkin has never been dropped in his career. Yes, in over 40 professional fights, the Kazakh fighter has never hit the canvas. He has had many famous fights over the years, including his two blockbuster events against Canelo Alvarez. Other than the Mexican, he has also fought Daniel Jacobs, Kell Brook, among others.

As you can expect, his primary source of income is from his boxing fights. His most lucrative fights were the two fights against Saul Canelo Alvarez fights. The first one brought him a reported $5 million, rising to $22 million when you consider PPV revenue.

The second Canelo Alvarez fight brought him a guaranteed 15 million, which went up to about $25-30 million. Furthermore, his three-year deal with DAZN boosted his earning. It is reported that the six-fight deal is worth $100 million.
