Karl-Anthony Towns is a six-foot-eleven center who plays for Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. He was born on November 15, 1995, in Edison, New Jersey. Towns was the #1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Towns’ parents are Karl Towns Sr and Jacqueline Cruz. In 2020, Towns lost his mother and other family members to COVID-19.
He attended St. Joseph High School in his hometown and led his team to a couple of state-titles in 2013 and 2014. After earning a massive reputation as a senior, Towns committed to play for Kentucky as he was already familiar with John Calipari’s coaching. (Calipari coached the Dominican Republic national team in which Towns played).
Towns gained starting privileges as a freshman and fit into Calipari’s coaching system with the Kentucky Wildcats. He played alongside future NBA stars and averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in his first year with the team.

He holds the record as the Timberwolves player with the most points in a season when he notched up 2061 points during the 2016/17 regular-season. He is also the youngest player since Shaquille O’Neal to record 50 points and 15 rebounds in a game.
