Former World Number One tennis player, Karolina Pliskova was born on born 21 March 1992, in Louny, Czech Republic. She was the 2010 Australian Open junior champion. Presently, she is coached by Sascha Bajin.

She won her maiden WTA title at the 2013 Malaysian Open by defeating Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the final. In 2015, Pliskova was part of the Fed Cup-winning team.

It was her first Fed Cup title, and she won both her singles and doubles match in the finals. In 2016, she won her maiden WTA Premier tournament at the Western & Southern Open, defeating Angelique Kerber in straight sets in the final.

Following that success, Pliskova?reached the finals of US Open 2016. She defeated Venus and Serena Williams en route to the finals and later lost to Kerber in the championship match, despite winning the second set and being 3?1 up in the final set.

After reaching the semifinals at French Open 2017, in July Karolina Pliskova was ranked World Number One. She was the sixth player to reach the number one spot without having won a Grand Slam tournament. From the Czech Republic, she was the first female player to achieve that feat.

After slump in form, Karolina Pliskova made a surprise return to a Grand Slam final. She reached the finals of Wimbledon Championships 2021, where she was defeated by the top seed, Ashleigh Barty.

The biggest titles of her career came at the 2019 Rome Masters and 2016 Cincinnati Masters.

She started her 2020 season in style, with a title win at the Brisbane Open. Pliskova had some consistent results for the rest of the year, but could not go on to win a title.

Later in the year, she also reached the finals of the Italian Open but retired midway due to an injury. Pliskova is currently ranked at no. 6 in the WTA rankings.
