Gastelum has fought several former and future UFC champions such as Vitor Belfort, Chris Weidman, Michael Bisping, Israel Adesanya, and more. He suffered a unanimous decision loss in his interim UFC middleweight title fight against Adesanya at UFC 236.

In his last fight was against Robert Whittaker in April 2021, he suffered a unanimous decision loss. Now, Gastelum will step inside the octagon against Jared Cannonier at UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Gastelum on August 21, 2021.

Gastelum holds a UFC record of 11-7 (1 NC).
