Kiki won her first WTA title in Fes, Morocco. Prior to WTA Morocco, she did not win a main draw match. En route to the title, she defeated the fifth seed, Simona Halep

The six-feet tall Dutchwoman, Bertens reached the semifinals at French Open 2016. During the semifinals, she was suffering from a calf injury and she fell to the eventual champion, Serena Williams

In 2018, she had an impressive run on the hard courts of Montreal, Canada. Later, Kiki Bertens defeated the top ten players like Wozniacki, Svitolina, Kvitova, and Halep and won the biggest title of her career at Cincinnati Open.

Before that, she reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. That year Bertens also made a debut in the top-ten rankings and reached the semifinals at WTA Finals. Also, she was announced as the “Most Improved Player of the Year” by WTA. 

In 2019, Kiki defeated the World Number three, Halep in the Madrid Open finals in her second consecutive final in the Spanish capital. Over there she defeated four former Grand Slam champions and she became the first woman to win Madrid without dropping a set.

Also in 2019, Bertens reached her career-high ranking of World Number four. She has won 10 WTA singles titles and ten doubles titles so far.

Bertens won the St. Petersburg Open in 2020 for her 10th WTA singles title. She also reached the Round of 16 at both the Australian Open and French Open.
