Kristaps Porzingis is a seven-foot-three center who plays for Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. He was born on August 2, 1995, in Liepaja, Latvia. Porzingis was the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Basketball runs in his family as Porzingis’ parents Talis and Ingrida both played the game during their younger years. After playing for Latvian youth clubs until he was 15, Porzingis then made the move to Spain where he was sought by Sevilla, a Liga ACB team.
Porzingis initially was given a place in Sevilla’s youth team, but swiftly made his professional debut a year after. He improved his game with the Spanish team and won the EuroCup Rising Star Award in 2015, after which he declared his eligibility for the NBA Draft.
As for the Latvian’s love life, there are several rumors about his alleged girlfriend on the internet. He has been linked with a few women in the past, but his current girlfriend is reported to go by the name, Bambi.
Porzingis came into the league through the 2015 draft when the New York Knicks used their fourth overall pick to select the Latvian. He became an immediate starter and fulfilled his expectations.
He dismissed rumors about him being a draft bust and enticed Knicks fans with his dominant displays. Porzingis averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in his first NBA season and finished second behind Karl-Anthony Towns in the Rookie of the Year voting.
Porzingis rose to stardom as a sophomore and put up massive numbers until he tore his ACL in February 2018. This played a huge role in his exit from New York as the injury kept him sidelined for several months.
The Knicks too, consequently decided to wait against offering him a rookie extension which made him a restricted free agent in 2019. As a result, the Dallas Mavericks stopped by and pulled off an epic trade for the towering Latvian.
Porzingis then signed a five-year deal with the Mavericks worth $158 million while sitting out the remainder of the 2018-19 season. He made his debut with Dallas the following year and formed a destructive partnership with Luka Doncic.
Porzingis is now an important player in the Mavs’ roster and he has cemented his place with his extraordinary talent. In 2020, Porzingis achieved two consecutive 30-point, 5-block games, becoming the first player since Shaquille O’Neal (2000) to do so. With that said, here are his career stats updated till the 2019/20 regular-season:
The Dallas Mavericks were extremely generous to Porzingis and offered him a massive five-year $158,253,000 contract upon signing with the team. The 2024 season is a player option and he’ll become an unrestricted free agent after.
Porzingis inked a major deal with the Mavericks and earns quite the money from endorsements as well. Celebrity Net Worth estimates the 7’3” center’s value at $6 million. Furthermore, his total career earnings will add up to $73,697,582 in 2021.
Nike initially won Porzingis’ sneaker contract when he arrived in the league. But the deal quickly changed hands the next year when Adidas offered him a more lucrative contract. Porzingis will earn roughly three to six million annually based on incentives offered.
The Mavs’ big man is one of the top Adidas endorsers and he dons explosive sneakers. The most recent ones he sported were the ‘Adidas N3XT L3V3L.’
