“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most. A simple, badminton player accidentally fell in love with basketball so much that she decided to become an NBA writer at EssentiallySports. My love began after I started watching LeBron James highlights and his gameplay was so refreshing for me, I had to utilie my English degree to start writing about him and the sport. Today, as an NBA writer, I am writing for not just Lakers but many other players and teams, sharing my passion with my son and my daughter. I did not follow the traditional route to become a journalist, but my love for basketball and writing has brought me here. Seeing LeBron James? Cleveland Cavaliers make the iconic comeback from a 1-3 deficit in 2016 changed everything for a young engineering aspirant within me. Rather than simply looking at the game, I love to analyze how each player contributes to a team using BPM (Box Plus Minus) and other advanced metrics. I like to incorporate statistics to support my judgment in my writings and report facts that are not often thought of by everyone. As I grew closer to the game, I realized how interesting the players were as well. I am inspired whenever they overcome challenges in their lives. This made me support Michael Porter Jr. in his quest to prove everyone who doubted him wrong. After following the path of MPJ for the past couple of years, I have transitioned to being a Denver Nuggets fan, and seeing them win the 2023 championship has me excited for the future.

I chose the latter, because of my interest in Journalism as well. So I decided to repackage my enthusiasm and come here at EssentiallySports.
