Amateur career

Despite being a late entrant than most, Westwood went on to register wins early on in his amateur career. Less than two years after beginning to play, he became the junior champion of Nottinghamshire. In August 1989, he represented England in the Boys Home International. In 1990 and 1991, he was also part of the Great Britain and Ireland Boys squad for the Jacques L?glise Trophy.

His first-ever amateur win came at the Peter McAvoy Trophy in 1991. He eventually turned professional after claiming the British Youths Amateur Championship in 1993.

Professional career
