Montrezl Harrell is a 6' 7" forward/center who plays for Washington Wizards in the NBA. He was born on January 26, 1994, in Tarboro, North Carolina. Harrell went as the 32nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Harrell’s parents are Samuel and Selena Harrell, and the NBA star has two younger brothers as well. The Wizards player is currently a father of two but remains unmarried. The single father raises his children Amari and Alyeshia, although he is sometimes rumored to be in a relationship. 

As a teenager, Harrell attended two different high schools, one in his hometown of North Carolina and the other in Virginia. He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy, where he impressed everyone with his dominant basketball skills. 

Harrell initially chose to attend Virginia Tech after high-school, but later de-committed and joined Louisville instead. He won the 2013 NCAA championship as a freshman, but Louisville had to vacate the title due to controversial reasons.

The Cardinals then made Harrell a starter following his freshman year, which resulted in a spike in his scoring numbers. He chose to join the NBA after his junior year where he averaged 15.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, while shooting 56.6% from the field.

Harrell was selected with the 32nd overall pick by the Houston Rockets in the 2015 NBA Draft. He averaged just 9.7 minutes in the 39 games he played as a rookie and got assigned to the Rockets’ G-League team as well. 

After spending his Sophomore season in Houston, Harrell was traded to the LA Clippers is a massive trade package that involved Chris Paul joining the Rockets. Harrell’s bench scoring talents were recognized in Los Angeles and he was given more attention there. 

Harrell has a career-high of 32 points coming off the bench and he put up tremendous displays during the 2019/20 regular-season. This earned him the crown of being named NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2020. 

He averaged 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds in 58.0% FG shooting to earn the accolade after which he made the move to 2020 NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent. After a forgetful season with the Lakers, Harrell was traded to the Wizards during the 2021 off-season in a massive trade for Russell Westbrook
