Rajah Caruth

History was made pretty early on the 2024 Truck Series when Rajah Caruth won the third race of the campaign at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and became only the third Black racer in history to win a race in NASCAR after Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.

Who is Rajah Caruth?

Caurth has an unorthodox story of how he became a professional race car driver at such a young age which is similar to Cup Series driver William Byron's. At 21, he won his first-ever NASCAR race and the story of this young man is only beginning.

Rajah Caruth’s Early Life

Caurth was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 11, 2002, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Rodger Caruth, is of Vincentian descent and his mother, Samantha Caruth, is a Vincentian-Barbadian. His love and affection towards stock car racing in particular came to be when, at the age of 12, his parents took him to a Cup Series race at the iconic Richmond Raceway. Since then, there has been no turning back for the Spire Motorsports star who recently stamped his authority on the world of stock car racing.

It is a little unclear whether he is a single child or has siblings. But an earlier post on his Instagram suggests he has a sister.

Rajah Caruth was a student-athlete and star track runner at School Without Walls High School from where he graduated in 2020. Despite being a full-time driver in 2024, his education is not yet complete. The 21-year-old is currently a Junior at Winston-Salem State University where he is pursuing a history in motorsports management. Seems like he's already carving out a path to what he will do post-retirement. But pursuing an education and racing at the same takes a lot of hard work and it's outstanding that he is being able to manage both.

Rajah Caruth Wife

There is no evidence of Rajah Caruth being married or in a relationship with someone. The 21-year-old only seems to be focused on his NASCAR career at the moment which may see its breakout year in 2024.

Rajah Caruth Net Worth 2024

Despite being young, Rajah Caruth had made a name for himself with his earlier achievements even before he became a full-time Truck Series star in 2023. He has amassed a fair amount of personal wealth through racing and sponsorships for this age. with his net worth being estimated to be in the range of $2 million and $4 million. As per We Publish News, he makes around $25,000 from his racing endeavors every month. But in today's world, a driver has to rely on a lot more than just earnings from races. That's what sponsors are for. He secured the biggest sponsorship of his career ahead of the start of this season with HendrickCars.com.

Rajah Caruth Career Timeline

It sure is unorthodox how Rajah Caruth started his journey to become a race car driver. While most racers start with karts, the Truck Series driver, like William Byron, began as a gamer. When Caruth was 16, He and his family bought an iRacing simulator through fundraising and his skills on the digital racing platform caught the attention of NASCAR's Drive for Diversity Program which led him to drive a legends car at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Bojangles' Southern Shootout.

He moved to late models in 2020 as he took part in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series for a couple of years. He won 3 races during that time which caught the attention of Rev Racing in the ARCA Menards Series.

Caruth ran a part-time schedule in the competition in 2021 and ran full-time in 2022 for the team. In the 2023 campaign, he finished in the top 10 14 times in 20 races. It was an incredible performance by the youngster and he was immediately signed to the full-time program of GMS Racing in the Truck Series in 2023.

The year before, he ran a part-time schedule in the series with Spire Motorsports, the team he returned to for the 2024 season. He has also taken part in the Xfinity Series in several races after his debut in the competition with Alpha Prime Racing in 2022.

Rajah Caruth’s Partnerships and Endorsements

The young stock car racing driver secured the biggest sponsorship deal of his career so far when Rick Hendrick's HendrickCars.com announced that they would be sponsoring his whole season in the Truck Series in 2024. The previous agreement was for the team to be on board for 10 races. It was an incredible moment for Caruth who expressed his appreciation for the organization after winning in the Truck Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"I thank you so much to Hendrickcars.com and Mr. H for putting me in this thing all year. Along with the men and women at Fire Man they’ve they’ve had a lot of work this winter and uh the decal shops have been working very hard too, so I’m glad to get the win for team Chevy," he said.

Rajah Caruth NASCAR Career Stats

According to Driver Averages, the 21-year-old has an average finishing position of 18.3 and an average starting position of 15.6. Unfortunately, diversity in NASCAR is not too high. So when Caruth picked his maiden victory in Las Vegas, he became only the third Black race car driver to win a race in a NASCAR competition after Wendell Scott and Cup Series star and mentor Bubba Wallace. Wendell Scott was a legendary figure in stock car racing as he was the first Black driver to ever run in NASCAR. His sole race win in Jacksonville in 1964 with Scott Racing etched his name in the history books.

Rajah Caruth Drive for Diversity

Rajah Caurth was first noticed by NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program when he used to race digitally on iRacing. It was thanks to the program that he got to race legend cars in Charlotte. Today, he is a fantastic ambassador for the program. Several great drivers of color and female drivers have come out of this highly successful venture that NASCAR started in 2004. These include the likes of Bubba Wallace, Nick Sanchez, Chase Cabre, and Isabella Robusto to name a few. It's not just drivers the organization works with but minority and female owners, sponsors, and crew members to make stock car racing more diverse and exclusive.

Rajah Caruth in Popular Media

The 21-year-old race car driver has made multiple appearances in the world of television. He was featured on an episode of The Family Business on BET+. The Spire Motorsports driver was also the subject of a NASCAR documentary that came out in 2020 called 'Through the Fences' that aired on Tempo Networks in 2020.

Rajah Caruth and Bubba Wallace

Rajah Caruth has massive respect for Bubba Wallace who is his mentor. The 23XI Racing star is a straight shooter. He will not mince his words if his apprentice makes a mistake but will be the first to celebrate wholeheartedly when they do a good job. A lot of Caurth's respect for Wallace comes due to the role he played in rallying the NASCAR community to support the Black Lives Matter movement, which was an inspiration for several Black athletes around the world.

"He's been a good role model, a really good role model, and an ambassador for the sport. He's been a really good person for me to look up to, just in terms of how to carry myself, online and at the racetrack, how to treat people, how to deal with criticism and just mean people," Caruth said of his mentor in an earlier interview with ABC News. After he won in Vegas, Wallace put out a heartfelt and motivational post for someone he considers a brother.
