Shane van Gisbergen 2024 Net Worth, Salary, Wife And More

Shane Van Gisbergen is a New Zealand-born motorsports racing driver, who is known for his stints in various forms of the sport. Rising to prominence for his participation in Supercars Championship in Australia and New Zealand, SVG has also successfully made a mark in NASCAR. The Supercars champion came into the Cup Series in the Chicago Street Race and won on his debut. It was considered one of the greatest NASCAR debuts ever as seasoned veterans of the sport were left in the dirt on a track that did not just involve left turns.

SVG is a motorsports legend back home with three Supercars Championship titles to his name. His time in the competition has come to an end for now as he sets his sights on the biggest competition in American motorsports. He is scheduled to be a full-time driver in the series starting in 2025. In 2024, he will be taking part in selective races in the Cup Series and every single race in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing.

Shane van Gisbergen Family and Personal Life

Shane van Gisbergen was born on May 9, 1989, and raised in the capital city of New Zealand, Auckland. His parents are Robert van Gisbergen and Karen Wallace. SVG got his education at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland. He also has a sister, Lauren van Gisbergen, who is a snowboarder and an avid traveler.

From being five and pestering his father, Robert, to get him a Suzuki ATV to barely being seventeen and signing a contract to race V8 Supercars for the premier Ford team, the one constant in his life has been racing.

In his early years, he raced Quarter Midgets on speedway ovals and ATVs on natural terrain motocross tracks. After a brief but fruitful experiment with karts, he spent a year in the Formula First class thanks to a scholarship program sponsored by SpeedSport magazine in New Zealand, after which he turned his attention to asphalt.

Shane Van Gisbergen’s Girlfriend

Jessica Dane, the boss and co-owner of Triple Eight Racing, is romantically involved with Shane van Gisbergen. The couple's relationship was made public in 2022, but they have both opted to keep the details under wraps.

Jessica Dane is the daughter of Roland Dane, the former owner of Triple Eight Racing, who played a significant role in founding and managing the team. In addition to managing the team's commercial activities, Dane served as the team's deputy manager throughout 2023  Bathurst run with Craig Lowndes and Declan Fraser. The couple is not married yet and has no children. However, reports have emerged that SVG's move to the United States to pursue NASCAR competition might see Jessica Dane tag along with him.

Shane van Gisbergen Net Worth 2024

Being the Supercars Championship winner on 3 different occasions sure has its perks, especially in the financial aspect. According to several reports, Shane van Gisbergen is said to have an estimated net worth of $7 million. As he was the Supercars champion, it is safe to assume that the Kiwi made a fairly good amount of money from racing alone. In 2015, the Daily Telegraph reported that SVG made $1 million in a year.

While the official figure remains undisclosed, it is safe to assume that his yearly earnings have increased substantially and will continue to do so with NASCAR. He also makes a substantial amount of money from his sponsors and partners. Some of the biggest ones he has a deal with are Red Bull, Quad Lock, and Giltrap Group.

Shane van Gisbergen's career timeline

Shane Van Gisbergen made his Supercars Championship debut in 2007 for Team Kiwi racing in the Jim Beam 400 at Oran Park Raceway and became the 200th driver to start a race in a V8 Supercar. He signed a long-term driver's contract with Stone Brothers Racing later that year. Before joining the prosperous Triple Eight Race Engineering team in 2011, Shane competed with Stone Brothers for five seasons until 2012. During that time, he achieved a career-high fourth-overall finish in the championship.

He has won three Supercars Championship titles in his career. In the 2016 season, he won eight races en route to winning the title, with one race remaining. After that, the Kiwi driver won 14 of the 30 races that were completed in 2021, putting up an incredible season that earned him his second Supercars Championship title. SVG outperformed his competitors in the 2022 season, winning almost 20 races and taking home the Supercars Championship for the third time.

Shane van Gisbergen has been successful in GT Racing as well. Alongside Alvaro Parente and Jonathon Webb with McLaren, Shane van Gisbergen won the 2016 Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour. In addition, he placed third overall in the 2016 Intercontinental GT Challenge, won the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in 2016, and finished second in the GTD class at the 2015 24 Hours of Daytona.

However come 2023, Shane van Gisbergen's career was headed in a different direction. His debut in NASCAR is something that will be remembered by the sport's fans for years to come. Seldom has a driver from the outside come into the Cup Series and won a race, let alone on his debut. The Kiwi showed just how good he was on a street circuit when he won the inaugural Chicago Street Race. His performance was so impressive that it earned him seats in both the Cup and the Xfinity Series. SVG also took part in the Indianapolis road course race that year, finishing P10. His Truck Series debut was underwhelming by his standards, as he only managed a P19 finish at Indy Oval.

The Kiwi will race as a full-time driver in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing in 2024 and a select few races in the Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing. He will join the latter on a full-time basis in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. “This announcement means so many things to me. I’m proud of what I have achieved here in Australia, but I’m excited by this new chapter in my career and the opportunities that it brings,” said van Gisbergen.

Shane Van Gisbergen's addition to NASCAR is unique for a lot of reasons. Besides being the first New Zealander to win a race in the Cup Series, SVG is also the first driver in six decades of the sport, who won his debut race. However, Shane Van Gisbergen looks toward making a full-time debut in the Xfinity Series, he is also bringing in a ray of hope in the form of a possible Red Bull return after the sponsor left NASCAR over a decade ago in 2011.

Rumors of the sponsor's comeback surfaced on social media after Trackhouse Racing team boss, Justin Marks, uploaded an Instagram Story in January 2024, which showed SVG signing into the team. What irked fan's interest was how Red Bull was tagged in the Story besides other stakeholders. Given that SVG has been a part of Red Bull Racing Australia since 2016, speculations were rife that the sponsor would be willing to cross over to NASCAR again alongside the driver.

As for confirmed sponsors, automotive accessories manufacturer WeatherTech will be serving as a primary sponsor for SVG in majority of his Cup and Xfinity Series races in 2024. Fast-food chain company Wendy's is also set to feature in Shane van Gisbergen car as a primary sponsors for select races in the Xfinity promotion.
