Taila Jaime dos Santos was born in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil. She took up mixed martial arts at the age of 16, as she was influenced by her father, who was a Muay Thai coach.

After starting training Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu in her teenage years, Santos made her professional debut in 2013. She fought Josiane Nunes de Lima at Striker's House Cup 31 in Brazil and won the fight.

Santos was on a dream run in her MMA career and got a chance to participate in Dana White's Contender Series in 2018, where she defeated Estefani Almeida via a unanimous decision to earn herself a UFC contract.

However, her dream run came to a halt as she was defeated in her debut UFC fight by Mara Romero Borella. Fortunately, Santos was able to return to the winning column in her very next fight after she defeated the popular Brit prospect, Molly McCann.
