Teófimo Andrés López Rivera, also known as Teofimo Lopez, is an American professional boxer. He is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, who sits at #6 on The Ring rankings and #5 on ESPN’s ranking, and #8 on TBRB as of January 2021.

The talented young fighter is also known by his moniker - ‘The Takeover’.

Prior to becoming a professional, Teofimo Lopez spent six years as an amateur in the sport. He represented his parents’ home nation of Honduras at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio. He also won the National Golden Gloves award in 2015.

In 2016, Teofimo Lopez turned professional when he signed with Top Rank as a 19-year-old. He has since gone on to become a world champion in the lightweight division in just 16 professional fights.

As of 2020, Teofimo Lopez is the unified lightweight world champion after beating Vasyl Lomachenko. He holds the IBF, WBO, WBA (super), and Ring magazine titles. He also reigns as the WBC franchise champion.

His first world title came just three years into his professional debut when he beat the then IBF title-holder Richard Commey via knockout. Since then he has gone on to fight one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters, Vasyl Lomachenko, and has become a global star.

His professional record stands at an impressive 16-0 with 12 of those coming by knockout; this gives him a 75% knockout rate. In just four years into the professional sport, Lopez has become one of the global superstars.
