Eldrick Tont Woods, popularly known as Tiger Woods, is an American professional golfer. Born in Cypress, California, he got the nickname Tiger in honor of his father's friend, who also had the same nickname.

Being the son of an avid golfer, Woods picked up the sport early. He was a child prodigy who made it to Golf Digest at the age of five. He followed it up with multiple junior tournament wins and entered Stanford University in 1994.

Woods' success followed him wherever he went. 26 years since he made his debut, Tiger Woods today is regarded as arguably the best player to grace the game alongside Jack Nicklaus. And he is so successful that there's even a Tiger Woods golf course company that designs golf courses.

Woods had a serious car crash in February 2021, and many believed that could result in his career coming to an end. But a return was on its way in December.

Tiger Woods: Family

Tiger was born to Earl and Kultida Woods. His father's interest in golf passed on to him, and he coached Tiger when he was young. His father is of African-American origin, while Tiger Woods' mother hails from Thailand. In 2006, his father passed away from cancer; he also had other health issues.

Well, Woods married Swedish model Elin Nordegren in 2004 and has two children, a daughter, Sam, and a son, Charlie. The pair split up in 2009 following Woods' infidelity scandal and officially divorced in 2010.

Currently, Tiger Woods' girlfriend is Erica Herman, who was a former employee at his Florida restaurant. The couple began dating in 2017. Having lived a life fairly long life, it is both obvious and evident that his family extends beyond just Tiger Woods' son, mother, father.

Tiger Woods: Masters

The first of Tiger Woods' Major wins came in just his second year of being a pro. He won the 1997 Masters Tournament at the age of 21 and announced his arrival. Between the start of 2001 and the end of 2005, Woods grabbed three more wins at the Masters Tournament and was a showstopper.

Following his scandal in 2009, he was written off, and many felt his career was finished. However, he bounced back, and a decade later in 2019, he won a historic fifth Masters Tournament. Only Jack Nicklaus (six) has won more than Woods.

Although Tiger Woods' wins speak for themselves, and he won the 82nd PGA tour trophy in 2020, Woods' injuries have taken a toll on him. Over the years, Tiger Woods' swing or rather swings have become less aggressive, however, they are still effective.

Tiger Woods Records

In a career spanning over two decades, Tiger Woods has broken multiple records. With the first of Tiger Woods' Masters wins, he became the youngest player to win the tournament at age 21. With 82 PGA Tour wins, Woods is tied for the most wins with Sam Snead. 15 of them are Majors, making him only second to Nicklaus (18) in all-time wins Major wins.

He is one of five players (with Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, and Jack Nicklaus) to win all four major championships in his career while being the youngest to achieve this feat. Tiger Woods' golf career will go down in history as one to take inspiration from, and he is the only player to have all four in a row (2000-2001).

Woods also owns the record for the lowest career scoring average in PGA Tour history.

Tiger Woods: Foundation and charity

In 1996, Tiger and his father Earl began the TGR Foundation, which started with the simple goal of promoting golf among children. But 26 years later, the Foundation's current goal is to 'empower students to pursue their passions through education.'

They have reached over two million students so far, and their students boast a 98% college graduation rate, which is one of the best in the country.

Tiger Woods: Endorsements

When Woods turned pro in 1996, he was immediately signed by Nike on a lucrative deal. He made $60 million from endorsements in 2020, from multiple sponsors like Bridgestone, Hero Motocorp, Monster Energy, Nike, Rolex, and TaylorMade.

His partnership with Nike is the most iconic one. While most sponsors dropped him when he was mired in controversy in 2009, Nike stayed loyal.
