At 34 years old, Andy Murray features among the senior players on the current ATP tour. Although he has just three Grand Slam victories, fans and players on the tour still speak of the Briton in high regard.

One of those players is American youngster Frances Tiafoe, who recently faced the former World No. 1. After recording a victory over Murray at the ongoing Winston-Salem Open, Tiafoe took to social media to appreciate the Briton.

Frances Tiafoe lauds Andy Murray for his career after Winston-Salem Open victory

Tiafoe didn’t have an ideal start to the 2021 season. At the Australian Open, the 23-year-old lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic despite taking a set off the Serb.

However, he made a dream start to his outing at Wimbledon. By defeating current World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round, he scored his first win over a player in the Top 5. Although the World No. 51 suffered a third-round exit to Karen Khachanov, he built momentum with decent results in hard court tournaments.

After beating Murray in the second round of the Winston-Salem Open, Tiafoe wrote a post on social media appreciating the Briton for his personality and work in tennis.

He wrote“Love this dude man. Your a great person first athlete second. The drive and determination you show is just remarkable. Even till this day. @andymurray you show us everyday what loving what you do looks like. Keep playing this game for you not anybody else. “
